Stripburger at the AltCom festival for alternative and underground comics in Malmö!
July 28-31 of 2016, Malmö, Sweden
It is confirmed again that the Stripburger team does nothing superficially, but thoroughly and consistently instead. This year it was twice in Belgium and the second come-back is to the distant Sweden. Those well-informed among you know that Stripburger has had a successful presentation in Stockholm earlier this year, and now two of our editors David Krančan and Bojan Albahari proudly represent the colors of our home magazine at the AltCom festival in Malmö, which will take place between the 28th and 31st July on several locations in this southern Swedish city.
This year’s theme of the festival is coincidentally (or is it not?) ‘work’, which is why our latest comics anthology Workburger with its accompanying exhibition fit perfectly within the concept. In addition to Stripburger, there will be several other, mainly bolder artist and collectives, such as the Croatian Komikaze, Swedish Tusen serier, CBK in Wormgod, Serbian Studiostrip, French Le Garage L, along with selected domestic artists.
Stripburger’s opening of the exhibition Attention, work! will take place on the 28th July, in the prime-time on the first day of the festival, while the day after the Swedish audience will be able to watch the animated movies Stripburger in motion and Wanted, created with the comics from the magazine. For good measure, there will also be a series of presentation talks and workshops, where the presentation of our magazine will be held as well. Together with Swedish publisher Tusen Serier we will also present the Swedish release of the comics album Cool Bike by Slovenian comics artist Tanja Komadina. The last two days of the festival will, as usual, feature a comic book fair as well, with many different exhibitors, artists and collectives. Do come and get your comics summer reading!
