Stripburger #83: wordless!
The current issue of the Stripburger magazine is something special: in it, images and the visual aspect of the comic medium come to the fore. Namely, the entire issue is filled with comics, the only common denominator of which is that they are without words. We were surprised and thrilled by the variety and multiplicity of silent comic narratives that applied to our open call Shut up and Draw! – in fact, so much so that we will fill both issues of this year’s magazine with them.
In the present, 83th issue, we thus present the first part of our selection of silent comics that reflect all their artistic and content diversity: they range from witty, fantastic, action, socially engaged to contemplative, lyrical and experimental, and they are authored by numerous new names and fresh discoveries as well as by some old acquaintances from our pages. The ‘silent’ cover of the issue was created by the German comic artist Anna Haifisch.
The current edition of Compendium is also exceptional, even though it is full of words. In addition to reviews and contemplations on selected new and well-seasoned, but, nevertheless, interesting silent (or almost silent) comic editions, it also brings a special list of recommended reading for all avid readers.
Take a break from the noisy world, surrender yourselves to the wordless comics and allow the silence scream to high heaven.
