SHUT UP AND DRAW!

Open call for Stripburger #83: Wordless Comics!

Deadline: 31 March 2024
Send to: hello@stripburger.org

There are wordless comics, but none are without images of some kind. Constant murmur of the world only enhances their powers, hitting the spots in us for which we have no words.

Nothing new, really: remember Nadine Redlich’s miniatures and Kaja Avberšek’s wavy experiment from Stripburger #73? Just think of Kalle Landegren in Stripburger #81 and his psychedelics – and then bring to mind silent comics of Jim Woodring, a legend of the 90’s, who our veteran readers got to know in Stripburger #9. There’s Jason with his recognizable dark humor pantomimes in #61 and the emotional expressionism of Nicolas Presl in #66. Do we need to go on?

There are many artists to look up to, but we want you to explore, play and convey (with a catchy matchy style) your story – lasting a glimpse or a millennia, whether humorous or poetic, in whichever technique you desire – the only rule is: no words.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

We are not necessarily looking for new comics, you can also send older stuff, but we’d prefer that the comics have not been previously published in English in an international comics magazine/anthology.

After receiving your work we’ll send you a confirmation email within 10 days (please be patient!).

Stripburger’s editorial team holds the right to accept or decline any contribution.

Stripburger #83 will be out in June 2024. The decision what we’ll publish will be made until 30 April. We’ll mail you if you’re in!
If we publish your comics, you’ll get 5-10 free copies of the magazine. Of course, you keep the full copyrights to publish your work anywhere else.

We look forward to receiving your submissions and thank you very much for spreading the word!
